We have decided to start this section to keep you all posted on our mum's health. We get emails from people inquiring whether mum is still in remission, whether we have found a donor for her etc. This section is a way to keep in touch with all of you and keep you informed regarding the current status.
Mum continues to be in remission. Her last appointment was on 30th April with her doctor. Her blood counts were normal at the time. Her next appointment is on the 28th of May when we will find out if she is in continued remission. We tend to get anxious around this time of the month. Hopefully, her blood counts will continue to be normal and we can heave a sigh of relief for another month.
The hunt for a compatible donor is still on. Those of you have tested so far have unfortunately not turned out to be a match but thanks for registering with the Australian Bone Marrow Donor Registry. You may be the one to save someone else's life.
Those of you who live in Sydney and are interested in registering with the Bone Marrow Registry, the registry in Sydney is conducting a donor recruitment drive on the 1st of June. All the details are on this website under the "upcoming drives" section and also on www.giftoflifeaustralia.org.au website. We are also in the process of scheduling drives in Adelaide in the month of July. We will put up the details on this website shortly.
